The Flame of Time
Beyond the Door
Beyond the Door is a Dialogue written by an unknown author. The following herein is an excerpt.
“Out—out are the lights—out all!
And, over each quivering form,
The curtain, a funeral pall,
Comes down with the rush of a storm,
While the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, “Man,”
And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.”
-The Conqueror Worm
Pamalyn: Why do you roam the late night corridors?
Eldranoth: Sleep eludes me.
Pamalyn: You have disturbing thoughts?
Eldranoth: And you Pamalyn what keeps you awake?
Pamayln: I think my thoughts dwell on the same subject as yours , the Lethe.
Eldranoth: Somewhere in the depths of the mind, my dear Pamalyn, lies the key to our existance. My ancestors tried to find it. And to open the door that separates us from our Creator.
Pamalyn: But you need no doors to find God. If you believe…
Eldranoth: Believe? If you believe you are gullible. Can you look around the multiverse and believe in the goodness of a god who rules it? Famine, Pestilence, War, Disease and Death! They rule this world.
Pamalyn: There is also love and life and hope.
Eldranoth: Very little hope I assure you. No. If a god of love and life ever did exist… he is long since dead. Someone… something, rules in his place.
Eldranoth: Yes. Above all, Entropy rules unbending.
Pamalyn: Even above the Lethe?
Eldranoth: Even above the Lethe, but as even as we speak they are one step closer to the Final Door.
Pamalyn: The Final Door?
Eldranoth: Yes. As I have told you before, there are four Doors through which to walk to meet your creator.
Pamalyn: I recall. Dreams…Psionics…
Eldranoth: Dreams, Psionics, Metousiosis or Death and Apotheosis. The Lethe are ever nearer to knocking upon the Final Door.
Pamalyn: Is it fear or Envy you feel for the Lethe?
Eldranoth: I know not what I feel… How can one fear or envy a brother?
Eldranoth: Indeed. My kind and the Lethe are both sons of Hypnos. Both given the task to conquer all, first to succeed would know our creator. Curiousity versus Apathy. It seems mindless oblivion has won, perhaps if it wasn’t for the Gith… It matters not.
Pamalyn: You are The Adversary, you are the Porter who will wield The Machine.
Eldranoth: Let us hope so, nothing is possible with out The Six.
Pamalyn: You said there is no hope, and what if they refuse to retrieve The Seeds.
Eldranoth: I said there is little hope. The Six still possess free will, it all depends on their choices. I have calculated a few different outcomes nonetheless.
Pamalyn: We can also hope that they choose correctly and soon, for The Lethe grew ever nearer.
Eldranoth: Sed fugit interea fugit irreparabile tempus, singula dum capti circumvectamur amore.
